23d Went to Henderson to day on Business Connected with my
Cattle trades &c
24th I went to the Bend after Cattle again to day I managed to
get all that I had bought from Bell home in the evening
25th This was wet day sure as it has rained steadily all day
and from Present indications we will have a flood
26th Sunday This has been a Cold Raw day I was at Church
Elder Cook Preached
27th Went to Henderson I delivered a load of the Mauzy Crop
that weighed Good Lugs Amt to $101. 85 '
28th I went to Henderson again to day I delivered to Burbank
& Co 11 head of Cattle at $484. 88 This with what I had delivered
them before Amt to $1574. 88 This with what I delivered to Levi
$470 Amt to $2044. 88 This Lot of Cattle Cost me $1600 Besides
These Cattle I sold to Fenselear in December Last 4 Head of Cows
for $127. 70 that cost me $97 I Let E D Powell have 2 Head that
Brot me $94. 35 They Cost me $65 I sold 2 Cows for $80 that Cost
me $50 in the Fall I killed and sold about 8 Head of Young Cattle
which Cost me $112 I sold on the Farm and to others about $175
in Beef making in the year 1870 and up to March 1871 a Total of
about 70 Head of Cattle that I Bought and sold The Total Cost of
Cattle was $1925 They Brought me in Cash a Total of $2521. 93 I
My Expenses were heavy on a Part of these Cattle but I have done ”
verry well Considering all things and the times this winds up my
Cattle Trades to this date and also ends the month of Feby 4
March lst - This was a Pleasant day for the begining of this Stormy
Month and I am truly in Hopes it will be a type of the whole month I ‘
went to a sale at Charles Elliotts this morning People have certainly
gone crazy as Property sold for 20 per cent more than its actual value and I
sometimes for more than Double
2nd I sowed some Orchard Grass Seed this evening But the rain ‘
— has Poured down in torrents again which will spoil further farming
operations for the present
3d Went to Henderson I delivered to Burbank Bros one Load of
Naces Tobacco that weighed Good 780 Lugs 660 Trash 220 Amt to $119. 60
One Load of Anderson That weighed Good 570 Lugs 540 Trash 455 Amt
$97. 90 I Bought to day of John Rudy Orchard Grass Amt to $45. 85 I
also Paid Him Ballance in full of Account to this date $29L 29 I Paid
note in National Bank for $200 Paid George Del.ker $102. 50 Paid
