kiklx 19th I commenced Gathering Corn on the Pierce place
this morning but my Corn is most too damp to gather
20th I went to the Bottom with B F Martin this morning to take
a mortgage on the Corn Crop of J H Marshall Came home to dinner
and went to the Cherry Hill Church Four Miles above Cairo Ky to
Attend the Henderson Co Association of United Baptists We that is
myself and Evans Gibson arrived in time for the night session of the
Ministers & Deacons Meeting I read my Essay on Home Missions
and was glad to have the same apparently well received by the Body
There were several essays Criticised but I could not join in the
Criticism as I had no opportunity of hearing them read I staid
to night with Bro J D Book
2lst The Henderson Co Association met this morning and
Orgainzed by electing Dr Talbird Mod & Elder Hatchett Clk To
days session was a pleasant and harmonious one and much important
Business was transacted I went to Bro Haynes to dinner to day The
Association met in Mass Meeting at night the House being alltogether
too small to Hold the congregation they had to meet at the stand This
was the first night meeting that I ever attended in the woods and scene was
one that looked unusually interesting
22nd Sunday I Remained all night with a Bro Spencer near the Church
and this morning when I arrived on the grounds I could but ask myself the
question where all the People had come from Dr Talbird Preached the
lst Sermon to the immense crowd of People and took a collection for
Missionary Purposes and received in Subscriptions about $350 He was
followed by Bro Lacy after which I was well satisfied to get to the
Hospitable House of Bro William Busby and enjoy the splendid dinner
which he had prepared for his guests as too long Sermons are most too
much for a hot day I was at (XXX Pre aching at night at Bro George
Books Dr Talbird preached and staid all night at Dr Cuxnptons
23d I met with the Association this morning Much important
business was done to day The Association adjourned about 2 oclock
V and I was glad once more to turn my face homewards I took dinner with
Bro William Busby and Came home to Supper This was one of the most
pleasant trips I have ever made from home and I enjoyed myself finely
and long will I remember the Kind People arround Cherry Hill
24th I was helping to Survey the Old Allin farm to day I carried
the Chain around the most of the farm This was a beautifull but warm

25th I went to the Bottom this morning I had hands gathering
Corn to day on the Pierce place
26th It rained awhile this morning after which I went to
Henderson &c
