November lst -ยท This was a Beautifull day for the begining of
the month I went in company with J R Smith and John Higgins a
Cow Hunting in the Bottom I Bought 4 Head from Wm Vickers for
$106 We found one of mine and one of Mr Higgins at J F Thompsons
and Drove tiiem Home
2nd Went to Henderson in Company with J V Lilly &c to day
3d Sunday I was at Sabbath School at the Methodist Church
this morning and heard the Rev Mr King preach at the Baptist Church
in the evening
4th Went to the Anderscm Farm &c to day
5th I was Hunting Cattle in the Diamond Island Bend with
B F Martin & others
6th About the Farm &c
7th Went to Henderson I sold to Capt O Neal of the Hancock
House 37 Bushels of Potatoes at 75 cts Per Bushel This was a Part
of the Partnership Crop Raised by me & W T Smith I also sold to
John Farmer 1 Barrell of Vinegar and to W B Woodruff 1 Do & 2
Beef Hides at 18 cts Per lb I sold the vinegar at $10 per Barrell
8th I was looking after my Cattle again to day At Church at
night Elder Miller Preached
9th I went to Lazarus Powells in Company with J S Griffin this
morning but got back to the Church in time for Church Meeting I
suffered severely with the tooth ache to day I was also at Church
to night Elder Miller Preached
10th I was greatly shocked this morning to hear of the Death
of Clint Smith Myself and Adelia went down to the Anderson Farm
and we found his Father and Mother in the greatest Distress. Clint
S had gone with Ed Moore from Henderson a squirrell hunting and
through carelessness no doubt had let his gun go off and from the
rebound he lost his life This was one of the most singular circum-
stances I have ever known The accident occured on Friday morning
and he died this morning Poor Clint he was a good Boy and I felt
truly sorry over his untimely death This was another warning of
the uncertainty of our tenure on life and I trust we will heed the
warning I was at Church at night Elder Miller Preached
