13th Went to Henderson The weather still continues warm
14th Sunday I was at Church to day Elder Miller did not reach
his appointment Elder Moore Preached
15th I was in the Bottom to day
16th Doing nothing in Particular
17th Went to Henderson in company with J H Jacobs
18th I was in the Bottom to day and at meeting at Good Templars
Hall at night to Organize a Lodge of the Patrons of Husbandry We
organized with 26 members
l 19th Went to the Bottom this morning and to a Temperance
meeting at night
20th I rode down to the River &c to day It is riseing again Rapidly
21 st Sunday I went in company with Mary E Smith to my Sister
Mary Anns where I spent the day At Church at night Elder Miller
preached
22nd Went to Henderson Renewed a note in the Henderson National
Bank I noticed some sales of Tobacco to day which seemed to be selling
verry low There was Considerable Activity on the stre ets and business
seemed brisk
23d I rode we down in the Bottom to Look after my Cattle &c
to day I was at Church at night Elder lVIiller preached
24th Raised a House in the Bottom this morning I stoped to see
my old friend Dan Martin as I came home He had gone out in the Horse
Lot and fell as is supposed with Paralisis He was unconscious when I
saw him allthough his Pulse seemed Good I came on to Church Elder
Miller Preached and soon after learned that Dan Martin was dead This
V to me was not unexpected allthough I did not think he would die so soon
I was at Church again at night Elder Miller preached I was also at a
Christmas Tree at the Methodist Church I like to see the young People
enjoy themselves and to night as I looked over the eager and joyous crowd
before me I could but wish them all a Happy Christmas and take a fresh
resolution to allways in the future to endeavor to promose the Happiness
of the young People especially The Tree to night was a fine one and mayiy
a young heart went away Happy while some of the Poor were overlooked
This should not be and I trust in the future that there will be a concerted
