A.D. Albright (Director of the Bureau of School Services; Professor in the College of Education; Executive Dean of Extended Programs 1957 ; Provost 1960-1962 ; Executive Vice-President of Institutional Planning 1970-1973 ; Executive Director of Kentucky Council on Higher Education 1987 ; Morehead State University 1986-1987) came to the University of Kentucky as an administrator in the College of Education in 1954. In this interview, Albright discusses the University of Kentucky in the fifties, and the early struggles of the Medical Center with main campus faculty. He describes the founding philosophy of the early leaders of the Medical Center, particularly Dr. Willard. In addition, Albright discusses the impact the Medical Center had on the university as well as the state, and looks at the problems of providing education and health care in a poor state.
