    C.   President's Report to the Trustees (PR 1)

    President Singletary reviewed briefly some of the items in
his monthly report to the Trustees, calling particular attention
to (1) the success of the University's United Way campaign which
collected $195,910, a 10 percent increase above the 1981
collections, (2) the Philip Morris Scholarships administered by
Jefferson Community College, (3) the Community College System's
report of continuing education and community service activities
during the past year, (4) the $25,000 endowment to fund a
distinguished visitors series given by E. DeLong Bowman,
grandnephew of one of the founding fathers of the University,
John Bryan Bowman, and (5) the $280,000 grant from the Andrew W.
Mellon Foundation to the Appalachian Center. President
Singletary recommended that the report be received and filed.
Without objection, it was so ordered.

    President Singletary also called attention to the document
"The University of Kentucky Organizational Review," information
copies of which were distributed.

    D.   Personnel Actions (PR 2)

    After noting that the personnel actions in PR 2 were routine
in nature, President Singletary recommended its approval. On
motion by Mr. Farmer and second by Mr. Miles, the appointments
and staff changes as recommended in PR 2 were approved. (See PR
2 at the end of the Minutes.)

    E.   Supplemental Recommendations of the President (PR 3A)

    President Singletary reported the appointment of M. O'Neal
Weeks as Acting Dean, College of Home Economics, effective
January 1, 1983, and recommended acceptance of the report. On
motion by Mr. Clay and second by Mr. Miles, it was so ordered.

    F.   1982-83 Budet Revisions (PR 3B)

    With President Singletary so recommending, on motion by Mr.
Farmer and second by Mr. Clay, the proposed routine revisions in
the 1982-83 budget were approved. (See PR 3B at the end of the
Minutes.)

    G.   Acceptance of Gift from Andrew W. Mellon Foundation (PR
3C)

    Mr. Miles moved that the University of Kentucky Board of
Trustees accept the $280,000 gift from the Andrew W. Mellon
Foundation as recommended in PR 3C. His motion was seconded by
Mr. Farmer and carried unanimously. (See PR 3C at the end of the
Minutes.)
