Where the Veteran Should Report
On arrival at the University the veteran should report to the
University Personnel Office, which is located in Room 9 in the base-
ment of the Administration Building. This office has been desig-
nated the receiving center for all veterans wishing to enter or
reenter the University of Kentucky. Here the applicant will be
given information about applying for federal assistance, and gen-
eral guidance with respect to vocational opportunities, courses of
study, etc. From this office he will be referred for further assist-
ance to other persons as the individual case requires. Generally
speaking, the division of functions will be as follows:
University Personnel Office: Federal assistance and initial
vocational and educational guidance.
Registrar’s Office: Admission, advanced credit from other
colleges or for training received while in military service,
fees, and registration.
Dean of Men or Dean of Women: Room and board, and coun-
seling on personal problems.
The Deans of Colleges and Department Heads: Academic
counseling and preparation of the student’s schedule.
What the Veteran Should Bring With Him
The following items should be available when the veteran ar-
rives at the University. It will facilitate matters greatly if tran-
scripts are sent several weeks in advance.
l. A certified copy of his discharge or release from the armed
forces.
2. An official transcript of his high school credits. (This ap-
plies to those who have not previously been in college.)
3. An official transcript from each college or university pre-
viously attended, including those at which he participated
in the Army Specialized Training Program, the Navy V-12
Program, or other college training program.
4. Official information (as detailed as possible) about any
specialized military training for which he wishes to seek
college credit. Such information may be covered in a
Separation Form, letters from military authorities, a report
from the Armed Forces Institute, or on USAFI Form No
47 (Revised).
5. A Certificate of Eligibility and Entitlement, Public Law
346, or a letter indicating eligibility under Public Law 16.
(No payment for subsistence may be made until a certifi-
cate has been filed with the University. The veteran`
should obtain his certificate from the Veterans Admini-
