The department offers courses in health open to students in
the various colleges of the University. A full year of work is
Qu offered to graduate nurses in preparation for public health nursing.

‘ Health are offered especially for the preparation of medical officers
of health.

4 JOURNALISM
The department has a library containing the latest works on
g journalism, leading daily and weekly newspapers, periodicals, and
4 other publications. It is supplied with standard equipment to
i print and to publish a modern community newspaper and to pro-
vide high-grade commercial job printing for the campus. In the
{ equipment is a type laboratory for instruction in typography,
, make-up, and the mechanics of publishing and advertising.

4 ° Correlated with the work of this department are a committee
{ on student publications, a campus bulletin, The Kentucky Kernel
(student newspaper), The Kentuckian (student yearbook), The
Kentucky Press (a monthly publication for the editors of the state
press) and The KHSPA News (a publication for high school
mlm editors). These and other journalistic activities are used in
laboratory work. Material written in the advanced classes is
submitted for publication in local, state, and national newspapers
~ and in periodicals.
