’ PHYSICAL EDUCATION
[ Upon entrance every student is given a physical examination
    by the Department of Health and Hygiene. The findings of the
§ i Department of Health amd Hygiene are furnished the Department
1 [ of Physical Education and modification in the form of exercise is
g i made accordingly. Individuals with physical handicaps are assigned
F   to "Individual Physical Education" (P. E. 25a-f).
i . The program of study and activities of the Physical Ediucation
F Department is threefold. The required or service physical educa-
4 i tion program consists of specific courses of instruction for men and
3 { women students which are designed to (1) teach the student an
Q " activity or activities which may serve as a recreational pursuit
2 during leisure time, (2) provide the student with a means of regu-
..... » lated physical exercise, and (3) develop a sane and intelligent
17 I attitude toward physical activity and competitive sports. The
second division of the department’s program is its Intramural
é , Sports program for men students and Women’s Athletic Association
é program for women students. Through the Intramural and
3 ‘ W. A. A. programs, numerous activities are sponsored which pro-
2 g vide opportunity for all students to participate in sports activities
4- on a competitive basis. The third division of the Departments
18 i functions is the Teacher Training Program which provides oppor-
*1**   tunity for students to prepare themselves to teach physical edu-
i cation, to coach athletic teams, and to train for leadership in
§ municipal or community recreation work.

ii` { A uniform is required for all students. The cost of this ranges
4 I from $2.50 to $5.00, according to the quality of suit purchased. A
_‘f_   locker fee of $1.50 per quarter is charged each student and includes
19   clean towel service, soap, and locker rental. Each student must
E furnish a padlock for his locker.
