                 Establishment of Quasi-Endo~wment For
                    The Viji Jeganathan Scholarship

Reecqmmendation: that the Board of Trustees approve the establishment
of a quasi-endowment fund to establish Viji Jeganathan Scholarship.

Dackg~rouud: The Office of International Affairs proposes to establish
the Viji Jeganathan Scholarship Fund. Ms. Jeganathan, a graduate
student from Sri Lanka who passed away in 1987, was widely known and
respected on campus for her efforts to create a culturally diverse
environment in which all students could learn from each other. It is
proposed that funds be utilized to establish an endowed scholarship to
be awarded annually to a student who has contributed significantly
towards bringing American and international students on campus more
closely together. The Office of International Affairs proposes to
contribute $16,477 from fixed price contract residual funds permitting
annual scholarship awards of $800.

By this action the Board of Trustees will establish the fund and
permit the allocation of funds to implement this authorization.
