William McConnell was an early resident of Lexington, Ky.
This is a group of legal papers mostly relating to several lawsuits over land which involved William McConnell and his heirs. The earliest suit, dating from 1782 to 1817, was between McConnell and the Trustees of Lexington and concerned the ownership of certain lots in Lexington (52W30). A later suit involved McConnell and the administrator of James Hughes' estate, Joshua Humphrey (52W33). The papers from this suit date from 1808 to 1819 and include notes, bonds, and summonses. The McConnell heirs were involved in a suit against John Hull over lot 79 in Lexington (52W26), the papers from which date from 1814-1817. The heirs were also involved in a suit against John Wallace (52W29). The papers from this case include court directives, summonses, a copy of a survey and plat, and date from 1816-1818. There is also a receipt from Richard Higgins for a plat, dated June 5, 1801 (61M110).
