3. All students are required during each semester of residence to attend a
certain percentage of the departmental recitals as directed and posted
each semester by the department.
4. If the applied major is piano, class instruments will be substituted for
Music 15a, b (Piano) as directed.
5. Voice majors will take a piano minor; piano majors will take a voice
minor.
6. Must satisfy lower division requirement.
7. A secondary instrument other than piano may be elected if the student
passes a proficiency examination in piano. .
PRE—PI-IARMACY
The freshman year of the curriculum in Pharmacy is given at the
Lexington campus of the University, as a part of the program of the Col-
lege of Arts and Sciences. Those who transfer to Louisville for the profes-
sional courses will be selected from the highest ranking applicants who have *
completed the freshman year at the University or elsewhere. The freshman

Required Physical Education.
D ‘ Upon entrance every student is given a physical examination by the
Department of Health and Hygiene. The findings of that Department are
V furnished the Department of Physical Education and all students, except
veterans (with more than three months service, including married ones)
are assigned to required physical education classes in accordance with their
` needs. Individuals with physical handicaps are assigned to "Adapted Phy-
sical Education" (P. E. 2). All others are assigned to "Orientation in Phy-
sical Education" (P. E. 1). In this course (P. E. 1) men students will be
rs physically conditioned, given a survey of various sports and then tested as
H- to their degree of physical fitness and sports knowledge and performance.
` Women students follow the same procedure except that they are given a
posture test instead of the physical fitness test. As a result of the testing
