working hard and are fast whipping

The Centre track team headed by

brilliant
Murphy, Robertson and Stevenson will
represent the Colonels in the dashes.
In the middle distances Centre will
enter Kimbel, Robertson, Hudgins and
Murphy. Kimbel will also enter in the
long distance runs and the relay. He
is an excellent distance man and can
be counted upon to keep things interesting. The relay team composed of
Kimbel, Berryman,- Robertson and
Montjoy won the relay race at the
recent Drake Meet this year and will
undoubtedly, make a brilliant showing in Saturday's meet The true test
of their ability however will come
when they compete against the relay
team of the Blue and White. Ken
tucky won the relay race at the indoor
meet held at Louisville this year un
der the auspices of the Louisville
Athletic Federation and is unusually
strong in this line. In the jumps
Centre will be represented by Mont
joy, Berryman and Keller, while "Red"
Roberts, Brunback, and Green will re
present the Colonels in the weights.
Lead by Captain Head the George
town Tigers wil make a mighty effort
to carry away the honors, and the
least that may be said is that they will
keep everybody on their toes. Head
is the high point man of the Tiger
aggregation taking 18 points in the
recent dual meet with Cincinnati. He
is entered in the sprints, the quarter
mile, and the high jump. Slead and
W. Moore will also try to run up
points for Georgetown. In the state
meet of last year Slead was second in
the discus throw, while Moore broke
the state record in the javelin throw

to Contest

The twelfth annaul Kentucky intercollegiate track meet wil be held on
Stoll Field next Saturday afternoon
with four colleges competing. The
meet wil start promptly at 2:00
o'clock. Berea, Centre Georgetown
and the University of Kentucky will
have teams competing for honors in
the meet.
A large bronze shield donated by the
Athletic Council will go to the winning team. The highest individual
point winner will receive a silver loving cup. Gold, silver and bronze medals will go to the men who are first,
second and third respectively in the
different exents.
On paper the Widcats have the edge
on both the Colonels and the Tigers.
On April 18 Centre defeated the Uni
versity of Tennessee 59 to 50. On
April 29 Kentucky defeated Tennessee
by a 80 to 51 score Kentucky defeated
to
the University of Cincinnati G8
Georgetown on the other hand
came out on the little end of a 72 to
45 score in a dual meet with Cincinnati. Little is known of the Berea
college team, but Berea has always
turned out a strong team in the past
and may be depended upon to put up
some keen competition in the coming
meet.
Winning on paper and the track is
different, however, and Coach Buch-heis determined that if hand work
has anything to do with it the Wildcats will have a mighty good chance.
Coach Buchheit has been putting the
men through a brisk practice all this
week preparation for Saturday's meet.
Captain Clare, the ace of the Blue and
White cinder stars, will be entered in
the sprints and in the hurdles and
possibly the broad jump.

This is no affront to underclassmen. Years of
steady plugging must go before you can handle the
d
responsibility of running a team.
That this is just, seniors will be the first to assert.
They have seen how well it works for team and college. Then let the seniors keep this point of view,
for soon they will find how closely the principle
applies to themselves in the business world.
Captains of industry are not made overnight.
Don't expect to step into a managership right
away. Before you can lead, you've got to serve
in the ranks awhile.
This is best for your organization and best for
you. The time and energy you put in working up
from the bottom, taking the bitter with the sweet,
getting the upperhand over vour iob. will stand
you in good stead when you have won through
to executive position.
When you have learned how to handle detail
work, you can begin intelligently to direct other
men to do it, and thus free yourself for creative
