My dearly bel ed

I am going to send you a
little typew ‘a passage tonight. It is late and
I must retirel rill. ”0 et some rest, which I must
have nou that r the up ea1' ly in the IOvfllflx.

ed to be back to vorh, doing
the things that GOHrtl“ s be003e hundru when one
keeps it up for a time, but it really seemed like
fun today, even ho it was a little hard to get used
to the typ writer, not to say anything about the h:an
who dictates. I don't want to say anything against
him, because he surely is nice, only he gets up and
walks around while he is dictating and has a pipe
stuck in the corner of his 3outh, which of course,
makes it somewhat difficult to undlhstand everyttin
he says. but he's not halt bad.

And the big, important looking lady with
Who3 I am to work, did not seem half so t;rrible as
she did \Vd en I rirst say he r. The thin little sten-
ogra xphe -r, dhom I am supposed to help, felt quite put
out toda because I we.s given so much dictation. Qhat
is the,ve ry re eson I'3 there for, to relieve her of
some of her \tcrh, as they have seen that she has been
working too hard, and today she didn't like it at all.
In fact, I saw traces of her having cried about it. That
made me feel disappointed, becauSe I surely do not want
to hurt any ones feelings, but I hope she will get over
it and see that they mean it Ior her own good. If she
doesn't feel differently about it, I don't hnow if I
went to stay. Othertise I liked it very well as every-
one seemed very nice.

I have walked so much today that I am quite
tired and tonight I was at church. It was the last
service at which Clarence Helson preached. The whole
dounstairs was crowded aid there were even a few p;ohle
upstairs. Sven tonight the Spirit of God was in the
midst of th~ meeting and shone to many hearts and quite
a number of them gave themselves to Christ. Oh, it is
wonderful to see the changes that have come into the
lives of some of our young folks. It is a glorious

 hv dearest David:

Many thanks for your letter and for
the sermon which you so kindly sent me. I shall re~
turn the sermon tom rrow. I really like this sermon
best of any that you have sent me so far. I can't
say just what it is that I like about it, but it up

much to me. There are a number of though
ei‘ Ss€_ in it that I have never heard before, ' ‘
were very int restirg.

I have talked about five or s'x miles today.
was able to we h home and have my lunch and then back
again in plenty of time this noon; Khan I ed hone
this evening. I don't like to ride the stre
and it doesn't take so very much longer to W
too, I get some very much needed exercise
and it gives me a good appetite. Tomorrow
half a day which will be just fine.

u minutes time to stare

at work, I use ufl

fiheneve
cohy, some of the latest sun

r I have a £6

cm to practise typing and I use as my
day school times articles.

In this may I feel that I am improvin? the moments thct

would otherwise slit by and I have read some very inter—

esting articles which I might not have read otherwise.

I did not go to church m'g" 'r“‘T as no
one else was going from our house and ; already done
so much palhing that I decided to stay ;* N u ;ev.
dlmen came back from Chicago for these artitional ,
ings. Next Sunday Rev. Frykman's success=r at Lausau
is going to preach in the afternoon and e suing.

Thanh you for letting me read Rev. Nelson‘s
letter. I am returning it herewith. am sorry I kept
your other sermon so as to cause you to worry about it.

Lovingly

Min élskade David;

kallt. Pastor Elmer Johnson fran fri-kyrkan skall predika i vér
kyrka. l morgon kvsll ar mOtet i Metodist kyrkan och vér pastor
predikar.

Jeg just ség i tidningen i gar kvall att Fri kyrkan émnar
vgra férdigt i sommar 11%,an gang. Det skall bll ett annex Just
vaster om kyrkan.

Tack for artiklen om Dr. Hedin.

I believe Rev, Gust F.
Sohnson was eclipsed that day at N.P. and hardly appreciated as

he would have been otherwise.

Min amt alskade David;

Tack far ditt kara brev.

mycket aldre an det.

I kvall ska vi ha lite hdgtidligt for mammas foflelse-
dag.

Aanhanda Jag skriver senare

“ M5 85 gott, min alskade. HOppas att du far en hérlig

Miss Elsa. Brandstrom made a poig-

gof. the Siberian pxison camps.

Her appeal was answered generou sly
Ebv those who had heard her trag c
:stozy of the almost unbelievable suf-
fering of those held by the Russians,
‘1 in a land bitterly cold unrelieved by all
but the barest necessities of: 11 :1.

guidance. Nothing is- taken for over-

speaker paying all cost of her lecture

Lived in Pehogl‘tuii.

Mliss Branclstv om was living in Petro-

lwar. She immediately engaged herself
1in war work. continuing from 1914 to

time. After pas'sin 9 Russian
, Cross examine. lons she left for Sibe a

1 In Siberia. Miss Brandstrom and her

party found soldiex s, despeiately ill,
”with vacant barns as the only room
;available for hospital. Thele was no
{bedding no hospitalsupplies, and often
i11o clothing. She was instrumental in
lobtaining the use of a ba1 racks, caused
’the making of straw math esses and pil-
flows and supplied each patient with two
blankets.

Other instances of the horrors of. the
’ prison camps and the unbearable suf-
ferings which thesoldiers were forced
to undergo, although, Miss Brandstrom
declared, the Russians were not inten-
tionally cruel, ‘were told with a. Simple »
directness that gave them lasting force.

After the War 600,000.}1risoners-had

thousands 011- others. broken in body and
spirit, had returned to their homes, help-

“To help them forget this nightmare,"
Miss Brandstrom continued, "is to put
them to Wor.k ” She told of how she
had established two labor ssnlta1 iums
for officers and soldiers where they are
provided with useful occupation which
they are able to do. The orphanage
‘for which the money collected Friday
evening will be used, is in connection
