I applaud them for their effort and their success. it I also a laud ou —- alumni and friends — who continue to su ort our universi in w Y T myriad ways. Gifts to UK were up in 2003-04, and we need those funds to provide a margin of excellence in teaching, research and scholarships to attract students like those reporting to campus this year. Membership in the UK Alumni Association is up, too, and dues—paying student , members demonstrate the expectation of a long relationship with alumni ofthe future. We need Q the support of alumni in Kentucky and throughout the world to assist UK in student recruitment, { scholarships and retention programs, and to connect with you through alumni communications. A top-20 university stands on the everyday good will, enthusiasm and achievements of its alumni. I look forward to standing with you and with the University of Kentucky in this new T academic year.
