  Coach Joe B. Hall is in his 12th season at Kentucky and has a 277-86 (76.3%.)
record as coach of the Wildcats. He is in his 18th year as a head coach on the
4 collegiate level and has a 353-142 (71.3%) career mark. His UK teams have won
H or shared eight SEC championships, won the NIT, finished as runners-up in the
;__3» NCAA tournament (1975), and won the national championship (1978).

1 ` The Wildcats are 27-4 overall and finished 14-4 in the SEC. When ahead at
  halftime, UK has gone on to win 19 of 21 games (Nine wins at home, six wins on the
-7 . road, three wins on neutral courts, and two losses on the road). When trailing- at
  halftime, UK has won six of eight games (Five wins at home, one win on the road,
it and two losses on the road). The Wildcats have been tied twice at halftime, a
  road win at Mississippi and an SEC Tournament victory over Alabama.

  ln UK's last ll games, senior guard Dicky Beal has scored 107 points (9.7 ppg.)
and handed out 80 assists. He has hit 38 of 63 shots from the field (60.372) and
  31 of 39 shots from the line (79.5%). He has started nine games in a row. His
_ two free throws at the 0:03 mark enabled UK to defeat Alabama 48-46 in the semi-
_   finals of the SEC Tournament. His 14 assists against Brigham Young in the NCAA
i Second Round tied the Kentucky school record.

h Wildcat center Melvin Turpin is still ahead of the pace in his quest to
_, become UK's all—time field goal shooter. His career mark is currently 59.6 percent.
“ Charles Hurt set the mark last season at 59.3 percent. Turpin has led UK in
scoring 13 times this season. He has scored in double figures in all but five
  games including the last 17 in a row. His top game came in the SEC Tournament
against Georgia when he hit 18 of 22 from the field, six of seven from the line,
pulled down 16 rebounds, and scored 42 points. He tied UK Director of Athletics
— Cliff Hagan's mark for points in an SEC Tournament game, and he broke Hagan's
;   field goal mark (16) with his 18 two—pointers.
