1988...Averaged 27.1 points, 6.4 rebounds and 8.7 assists pergame as a senior at Clay County...McDonald's High School AII-American...Led Clay County to a 35-2 record and a second-place finish in the Kentucky state high school basketball tournament... Was named MVP of the 1987 and 1988 state tournaments (Clay County won the state championship in 1987)...Named All-State in 1986, '87 and '88...Also All-District and All-Region for four seasons...Won the Ted Sanford Award in the 1987 state tournament for scholastic achievement and sportsmanship, becoming the first player to win the Sanford Award and MVP honors in the same tournament...Clay County's all-me leading scorer with 2,937 points; his jersey has since been retired...Vice-president of senior class at Clay County, ranked sixth in a class of 200 students with a 3.6 GPA...More than 1,600 people watched him sign letter-of-intent in the Clay County High School gymnasium...Coached by Bobby Keith.
