Regular inspection of Benham was made on December 17 to 19.
Watch Service
Portable watch clock dials from 511 routes were examined and men
are performing their duties punctually.
Eguipment _
The motor hose wagon was fully,equippedewith~2—l/2" and 1-1/2“
C. R. L. hose, ladders, shut off nozzles and extinguishers. The
35,000 and lO0,000 gallon tanks on public water supply and fire
hydrant service were full. Fire hydrants were in apparent good
operating order and no leakage observed. Hose houses were fully
equipped with spanners in place and no roof leakage noted. Hose
in Hotel, White Club, Store and School House was in apparent ser-
viceable condition. The gong at Hotel on sprinkler system rang
promptly on flow test. Fire extinguishers at various locations
were properly charged. Fire doors at Store and Supply Building
were free to operate automatically. Panic latches were in good
operating order.
Recommendatigng
l. Repair leaking valve on standpipe in first floor southwest hall
School House.
2. All cotton rubber lined fire hose should be tested as same has
not been tested since 1937.
Recent Changes
Hose House southwest corner Walnut Street and Railroad Avenue has
been removed. Same was damaged when struck by an automobile. This
hose house need not be replaced due to the fact that there are other
hose houses nearby.
Coal is now being stored north of Tipple No. l
