FIRE PQQTECTIPQ
Dear Mr. Rose:
. The job of installing the sprinkler system at the Bonham Hotel
for fire protection was completed last month. All the piping has been
painted by us. Additional steel fire escape ladders have been added on
the outside of the building. They have also been painted. Mr. Merritt _
inspected the building when he was here after these ladders were in place
and he approved of the adequacy of the ladders as to the number and their
location on the building. _
This job was completed last month. It carries the Appronriation ~ A
No. 15946. There has been no work done during the month of June and the
appropriation has been closed as of {une 14, lQ35. There is an unexpend-
ed balance in the appropriation of $579.65.
During the discussion of our semi—annual inspection of fire '
equipment, personnel and fire hazards while I was in Chicago, it was
decided that me would not purchase at this time a new chassis and cab ·
` for our fire truck but that we would go to the extent of replacing
defective fire hose which is new in our hose houses, most of it beiig
in the lower end of the town, to the amount of $500.00, which will
purchase aporoximately 800 ft. of hose. Since there were 1300 feet of
defective hose at the time pressure tests were made, this BOO feet will
improve our fire protectioneto that extent.
We Would, therefore, request your apnroval of an expenditure of
$500.0d for the purchase of aporoximntely BOC feet of Eg" Tire hose for
replacing part of the defective hose now located in our hose houses.
Since this hose is located in the hose houses in the lower end of the V
town of denham, the charge for this hose will go against tenements ‘
according to the ruling of the Accounting Department and will not be
cmm@dagdmm1meommwhm.
we would be pleased to have your approval of this expenditure
at your early convenience. _

ZJBJESTNOI FIRE PROTECTION:
I have your letter of June 15th on fire protection, and note
there will be a balance of $579.65 from appropriation No. 159}-L6 that
was granted for sprinkler system for te hotel, etc.
I think you had better write a formal request for a “B"’ appro-
priation of $500.00 for the purchase of 800 ft. of the 2-1/2" fire hose
as a partial replacement this year of the l}00 ft. that was found to be
defective on the last test of hose.
This being a "ZB” appropriation and inasmuch as the amount is
only $500.00, I think we can pass it right here in this office, if you
will sent it up in a formal request. Please attach two forms to your
