The colleges on UK's campus competed with each other, assumed each was the best and seldom worked together on projects. These same colleges were composed of a student body who did not alientate itself from anything on campus. This student body was a serving group, dedicated to helping itself to what the university had to offer and making that useful to the rest of mankind.
Professors complained that they seldom knew co-workers who were not in their department. The art of serving became lost if the university could not work together. The student body saw these problems and worked to solve them.
Examples of departments which worked singly, yet benefited the entire campus, were the College of Library Science. This de-(continued on pg. 60)
