     The Varden family photographs, (dated circa 1890-1900; 4 cubic feet; 7 boxes) comprise thirty-eight glass plate negatives depicting both portraiture and landscapes in and around Paris, Kentucky. 
   
   
     Scope and Contents 
 The Varden family photographs, (dated circa 1890-1900; 4 cubic feet; 7 boxes) comprise thirty-eight glass plate negatives depicting both portraiture and landscapes in and around Paris, Kentucky. In addition to the photographs, the collection includes the photography equipment used by the Varden family. The equipment consists of one Kodak Field View Camera with Bausch and Lomb lens, one wooden camera tripod, three wooden glass negative holders, and one wooden crate (stamped with "Varden & Son") containing 8 x 10 glass panes used as raw stock for glass negative production.    
   
     Biographical / Historical 
 Joe Varden and George S. Varden were residents of Paris, Kentucky and owned Varden & Son, a druggist (pharmacy) shop located at 509 Main Street.
