Members, Board of Trustees:

          REPORT ON RESULTS OF ALUMNI MEMBER ELECTION

Recommendation: that the report of the Vice Chairman of the Board of Trustees on
the results of the election authorized by the Alumni Association be received and put
to record, and that he be authorized to certify to the Governor the names of the three
persons receiving the largest number of votes, from which list a successor to Judge
James A. Sutherland, whose term expires December 31, 1965, will be appointed.

Background: The term of Judge James A. Sutherland as alumnus member of the
Board of Trustees expires December 31, 1965. An election has been held among the
alumni of the University as prescribed by statute and in accordance with the rules
and regulations of the Board of Trustees. The following letter from the Vice Chair-
man of the Board of Trustees to the President of the University reports the results
of the election.

Dear President Oswald:

The term of James A. Sutherland as alumnus member of the Board of Trustees expires
December 31, 1965. An election has been held among the alumni of the University as
prescribed by statute and by the rules and regulations of the Board of Trustees. The
following is the result of the election:

                   William Ray Black            2, 305 votes
                   James A. Sutherland          2, 201 votes
                   John E. Stone, Jr.            1, 921 votes
                   James E. Abell                1, 750 votes
                   Charles E. English            1,655 votes
                   Cecil A. Thornton             1, 265 votes



There were 150 write-in names, all of which have been tabulated and recorded.
