Abstract

The bulk of the Charles Schubert collection on Lawrenceburg, Kentucky documents members of the Dowling, Brady, McCarthy, Fitzgerald and Roach families of Lawrenceburg, 1880-1900.

Biography/History

John Dowling settled in Lawrenceburg Kentucky with his wife, Mary A. Dowling, in 1872. The Dowlings had seven children. The eldest, William E. Dowling was elected to the State Senate from 1912 to 1916. William Dowling additionally served as County Attorney for Anderson County and was elected to several other offices in the county, including city judge for Lawrenceburg.

Scope and Content

The Charles Schubert collection on Lawrenceburg, Kentucky consists of thirty three photographic prints in an album of various formats: cabinet cards, cartes de visite, and tintypes, 1880-1900. The prints are mainly of members of the Dowling, Brady, McCarthy, Fitzgerald and Roach families of Lawrenceburg, Kentucky, but also include others.
