Collection Overview

Biography / History
John Edwin Wilson was born in Falmouth, Kentucky and graduated from Ohio Medical College in 1888. He returned to Falmouth where he practiced medicine for over 50 years. Besides his medical work, Wilson was an active civic leader, serving as councilman and as mayor of Falmouth from 1921 to 1937. He helped establish the water works and electrical light system in Falmouth. Wilson also served as Pendleton County Health Officer.
Scope and Content
The John Edwin Wilson papers consist of material belonging to John Edwin Wilson, a Falmouth, Kentucky, physician and local government official. Included are his student notebooks of notes from medical college classes and hospital work. Also included are expense and receipt books along with medical ledgers from his Falmouth medical practice. The collection also contains personal letters from Wilson's family and that of his wife, the former Fanny S. Lee. The collection also contains account books of Julia Ball, several diaries of Lucy A. Wigglesworth, letters of Allie McClanahan, Mrs. Fanny Wilson's student notebooks from Mount Holyoke College, various children's and religious books, poetry, certificates, and the minutes of the Board of Directors of the Falmouth Public Library (now Pendleton County Public Library) from 1900-1902.
