Georgetown Will Rely
on Hackman to Stop
the 'Cats
The Blue nnd White baseball team
will open its 1925 season on April 9
when it matches up with the Tigers
of Georgetown College on the lattcr's
field.
The game will be the initial tilt for
both teams and as each team is very
anxious to start the season with an
impressive win, the game should be
one of thrills and plenty of action.
The Wildcats did not play George-

town at baseball last year, although
the yearling teams of both schools
clashed.

the team has one of the strongest
collegiate batteries in the state. This
pair works well together and may

cause the Kentucky sluggers all kinds
i.f trouble before the afternoon's play
is done.
Another Tiger whom the 'cats will
have to watch, both in the field and
at bat, is Bruce Daniels, flashy shortstop. This man, besides being a fast
nnd sure fielder, is one of the strongest hitters on the team.
Coach Murphy has been driving his
men hard nil week to get them in
shape for the trio of difficult games
which face the Felines within a week.
He is devoting extra time to his pitchers and they are beginning to show
both class and forb.
Snappy Infield
The infield is functioning smoothly.
Coach Murphy has given the boys
plenty of practice on the fundamentals of the inner defense. In the
outfield the players are judging the
ball more accurately nnd their throws
are becoming more precise every day.
Following the Georgetown game,
the 'cats will oppose two teams of
strong- - calibre within the lapse of 3
days. On April 11 ' the Blue and
White will be hosts to the University
of Michigan nine in the first game of
the spring trip of the latter institution. Two days later the 'cats will
journay to Louisville and will play the
Cardinals of the University of

Louis-

ville.
Should they be returned victorious
in this set of games, they will have

an excellent start toward a winning
season.

The varsity tennis team of the university has had ideal weather for

surrounded by a fence to prevent

The Kentucky R. O. T. C. Rifle
Team, one of the strong entrants in
the National Collegiate Indoor Shoot,
were off to a flying start last week
in their matches, scoring 1,958 points
out of a possible 2,000 in the prone
and sitting positions, an exceedingly
high score. Taking this marksmanship as an indication, the Kentucky
team has a better chance than any
other Corps Area team to win the
match.
As was the usual case in all matches
during the riflle season, E. T. Bullock
was high point man last week and
he was followed

by Griffith, Richard-

son, Bobbitt, H. R. Brown, Mills,
Rogers, Weems, Forkner and Creech
in order. The other five who fired
were E. C. Rice, Griffin, Anderson,
Travis and Fife. As only the ten
highest scores are counted toward a
total, the scores of Rice, Griffin, Anderson, Travis and Fife were not
counted.
