THE ALUMNI ASSOCIATION
The Alumni Association now includes former students as well as l
graduates of the University banded together to insure the necessary Q
aid to the University in its expansion and general activities and to
promote a feeling of closer relationship among its sons and daughters.
The Association has taken a keen interest in the growth and de- g
relopment of the University for many years. Its activities are toward
a more intimate and helpful relationship with the student body and
fostering the interest of the Alumni in the affairs of the University.
As evidence of this the Association is organizing student-loan funds
for »worthy students in need of iinancial help, is promoting and en-
couraging those things which tend to develop higher standards and
ideals in the students and has secured a legislative act giving the
alumni representation on the Board of Trustees so that it may have
a direct influence in the administrative affairs of the University. I
One noteworthy endeavor of the Association is the Kentucky Me-
morial Building Campaign to raise $300,000.00 for a monument to
Kentucky’s war heroes, to which fund the alumni generously contrib- §
uted. I
Membership in the organization is widely scattered and alumni `
clubs have been formed in many of the larger cities thruout the coun- ~
try. It is also tl1e plan of the Association to establish a club in each {
county in the Commonwealth. Animal business meetings and class ?
reunions are held during commencement week of each year at the
University. Club meetings are held at the will of the various clubs. I
Meetings of the executive committee are held the first Monday of j
nach month except during July and August. A
