_ forming a "Y" in the town. This road has been completed and
, partly graveled and is known as the DeKoven-Curlew-Caseyville
Road, since it passes Curlew and connects with Highway 30 in
Caseyville. When a few minor details are finished this road will
_ be accepted by the State as a highway, thereby completing a
chain of highways in Union County.
An electric line was put through DeKoven in 1939. The De-
Koven Homemakers Club, formed in 1935 by Sadie Wilgns,
Home Demonstration Agent, with Mrs. Joe Van Cleve as first
chairmen, still carries on, under Mrs. Earl Erwin. Its function is
to encourage better living conditions in the home, economy and
practical use of such resources as the people have, and personal 1
grooming. The club now has seventeen members.
