Cecil Fletcher Holland was an author and biographer in the first half of the 1900s. His one published work is Morgan and His Raiders, a biography of Confederate General John Hunt Morgan. The book was published in 1942.
The Cecil Fletcher Holland papers consist of the typescript and galley proofs of Holland's book, Morgan and His Raiders, a biography of Confederate General John Hunt Morgan, and the research materials Holland amassed to write his book. These include correspondence between Holland and members of the Morgan and Basil W. Duke families, articles from history journals, photographic negatives of documents relating to Morgan, prints of photographs and portraits of Morgan family members, and transcripts of Morgan's correspondence and military directives. The collection also contains three original John Hunt Morgan broadsides from 1862.
The Morgan and His Raiders series includes the typescript, galley, and illustrations for Holland's book.
The Correspondence series contains letters to and from Holland about research for his book, Morgan and His Raiders. Majority of the letters are between Holland and John H. Morgan, the grandson of C.C. Morgan.
The Research series contains typed copies of papers about General Morgan and Holland's notes.
The Williamson notebooks series contains transcripts of John Hunt Morgan letters, articles and stories from newspapers, and genealogical research on the Morgan family.
