Dear Madam,

I do not know what your opinions
are on the subject of female suffrage. If
they are opposed to those of my friends and
myself, pray excuse me for writing to you.
But if, as I trust is the case, you agree
‘with us, may I hope that you will give us
some assistance? The suffragists dispose
of very large funds, and we can only hope
to combat them successfully by creating an
organisation as powerful and as far-reaching

as theirs.

Very truly yours,
