KYLE MACY, 6-3, 180 Sophomore Guard Peru, Ind. (4/9/57)
After sitting out a year upon transferring from Purdue, Macy is more than ready to resume his favorite pastime of playing basketball . . . And perhaps never in UK history has more pressure been thrust upon a transfer than Macy ... A multiple talented player who excells in all phases, he spent last year on strength improvement and now appears ready to assume the play-maker's role left by graduated Larry Johnson ... To say Macy has been impressive in workouts is an understatement . . . Teammate Rick Robey says he is the best he's ever seen at getting the ball inside, while other observers have labeled him as the best passer since Larry Conley wowed 'em in the mid-sixties . . . Add to that his classic shooting style, great intelligence and understanding of the game and you have the guard coach Hall says he is turning over his offense and defense to . . . Coach Hall: "Kyle is not a newcomer to the squad since he red-shirted last year. He has proved to all of us he has the ability to be a great help to our team this year. He's a good floor leader and a smart playerthose assets alone would be enough to make him a contender for a starting position because it's something we have needed very much. Not only can Kyle run our offenses and defenses and be a playmaker, but he also possesses an excellent shooting touch from out in the floor and is probably the best free throw shooter on the team. So he gives us a lot of strength with his pluses. He has improved his physical development and is much stronger than he was a year ago. That strength has helped him become a better defensive player."
