Agriculture Librarian Authors Guide
Antoinette Powell, Agriculture Librarian, is the author of Preserving
Land—Grant Agricultural Documents, a guide to prepare documents for
microfilming. The guide emphasizes the bibliographic aspects rather
than the technical requirements of microfilming. Ms. Powell hopes
the guide will help others involved in similar projects avoid some
of the problems which she and her staff encountered.
The microfilming of the University's agricultural documents came
about as a result of a cooperative agreement with the National
Agricultural Library, Beltsville, Md. According to Ms. Powell, many
of the early Kentucky agricultural publications were deteriorated to
such an extent that disintegration was inevitable. The microfilming
project was essential to preserve the material for future use.
