I ANNUAL REPORT OF THE TREASURER.
l Gentlemen of the Beard ef Curators:
I beg leave to submit the following Report of the state of
-I the Treasury during the past year.
" The obligations of the office have been far heavier than at
. any other period in the history of the Institution, yet we have
I been enabled to meet them all without embarrassment, and
there is not one outstanding which can not be duly met.
The Endowment Fund remains the same as last year, ex- ._
_ cept as far as it has been diminished by amounts refunded to
citizens of Mercer County, unde1· the Act of the Legislature I
_A removing the University thence. There is still due to said
A l parties some six or eight thousand dollars, which I expect to I
l pay during the present year. .
I There have been some changes in the Stocks, which are I
I subject to investment and re-investment, an exhibit of which
. will be seen in the tabular statement of stock investments. ‘
. During the year I have increased the Real Estate and Building I
Faml about $15,000, making the total subscriptions to that
A fund $164,57500, falling due in four and five annual install- A
e ments from date. The only obligations of this Fund, so far, I
” l are my individual notes, given for the purchase of Ashland and ·
¤ Ylloodlands, which will amount in the aggregate to about I
$$140,000, principal and interest. These notes I have taken in`
T promptly as they have fallen due, and the payments so far V
I made upon the Estate have amounted to $94,969.45. I have
I paid the entire amount upon "Woodlands," principal and in-
tcrest. There are two outstanding notes of $17,500 each, V
l I besides the interest from date, upon Ashland—one due on the
15th February, 1369, and the other on the 15th February,
I 1870-which I hope to be able to meet from the accruing sub- A
