Unbeaten Brigham Young remained atop the USA TODAY/Cable News Network college football rankings  to the delight of coach LaVell Edwards and disappointment of No. 2 Oklahoma's Barry Switzer.
"I think we have as legitimate a claim on it (No. 1) as anyone," said Edwards.
Said Switzer: "We've played three No. 1 teams (Texas, Nebraska and upcoming Orange Bowl opponent Washington) and one that was No. 2."
