Third Brood Reared.
A large percentage of the preceding brood failed to
emerge, and some difficulty was encountered in getting
individuals to mate. The weather was rather cool and this
retarded the development of the eggs.
Moth No. 67, emerging Sep. 17, was mated with No. 149,
emerging Sep. 19, and produced eggs Sep. 21. Moth No. _»
84, emerging Sep. 18, was mated with No. 87, emerging
` Sep. 18, and produced eggs Sep. 22. The young did not
thrive as did those reared in midsummer, and some failed
to pupate, as noted below:
