Captain W. J. Stone is the first person not a lawyer
nor party to a suit ever permitted to address the
Court of Appeals on any question. The question of
the constitutionality of an Act of the Legislature is
the greatest and gravest question the courts are ever
called upon to consider. This great honor was con-
ferred on Captain Stone by a unanimous vote of the
seven Judges of the Court and consented to by the
Attorney General and his assistants, who were the
opposing counsel in the case.
