Don't Ever Forget '75
Dear Sir:
I am 25-years-old and have followed the Wildcats since I was a kid. The Mideast Regional game against Indiana in 1975 is when I became a "hardcore" Wildcat fan.
I love The Cats' Pause, but the reason I had to write was Mr. Gibb's letter (in the Nov. 29 issue) about Dean Smith. I, too, will never forget what "Clean Dean" said and did to Rick Robcy. Although that was eight years ago, that incident was burned into my memory and I say Kentucky fans should never forget.
Good luck to the 'Cats,
Brad Hunt Eddyville, Kentucky
King Football
Dear Sir:
Even though I am disappointed in the 'Cats' 1986 football season. I still must have TCP. So, enclosed is rhy check for renewal for '87. I am anxious to learn how Jerry (Claiborne) will do in recruiting this year. I wish him -reat success. I am also at a loss (as to) why .here is not more support of the UK football program. It appears that basketball is the only sport that many fans care about. I like basketball, too. but in its season. Down here in the deep South, basketball is tolerated, but football is king. Will Kentucky ever be competitive in football? What will it take? Do we have to have winning teams before we will support it. or can we produce winning teams by our support? What's the answer?
Congratulations to Eddie Sutton on his excellent recruiting year.
Sincerely,
Roland Butler Greensboro, Georgia
Blue Blood
Dear Sir:
Please renew my subscription to The Cats' Pause. Your newspaper keeps my Blue Blood pumping while I am overseas. I enjoy reading every article (with the exception to the occasional article concerning the second-best university in the state).
Sincerely,
K.W. Hornback, New York, New York
Ready For Eddies Call
Dear Sir:
Here's my renewal to The Cats' Pause. Put it in the hopper fastdon't le me miss a single issue and keep 'em comin'!
I need to keep up with the goings on with the 'Cats. With all the players Kentucky has been losing, I may have to play myself if Sut-
ton calls me.
Here in Big Orange Land, I've had a rough week, after Tennessee knocked us out of another Liberty Bowl. The attitude around here is one of "I knew Tennessee wouldn't have any problem with Kentucky." Well it hurts, doesn't it Jerry? I have a sure-fire solution to anyone in Kentucky who may be just a half-hearted Kentucky fansend them down here to live in Tennessee for a spell, the Big Orange fans will turn you around to be a true "Blue" fan.
Well, I'm sure wondering about this round-ball season. I wonder how Sutton will do with an "all guard almost" lineup. Anyway, there's not much pressure this year. Wow, look out next yearfour guys at the seven-foot level (almost). Look out opposition, here come the Wildcats.
I'm pulling for Blackmon, come on James, show us this year. Also, Richard Madison, this is your year, your chance. Let's see some board work and some three-point shots.
Good LuckGo WildcatsGo Kentucky.

Satellite TV Listings
Dear Sir:
Enclosed is my check to renew my subscription for The Cats' Pause for another year.
On page 25 (of the Nov. 29 issue), you had an article about the satellite TV listing, but it had an incomplete address. So I immediately called TCP and since you all did not have the information, I called Louisville Productions and the gentleman I talked to was so helpful and gave me a schedule.
The games on Dec. 19th, 20th are on Galaxy 3, transponder 12.
I live in Fort Worth, Texas, and I bought a satellite dish so I could pick up my Kentucky Wildcats. So any time that the games are on satellite I sure would appreciate you publishing the time, etc.
Keep Up The Good Work.
Robert Vanover Ft. Worth, Texas
Here We Go Again!
Dear Sir:
A la Jock Sutherland, a little too much beans when we want clams! So don't renew our subscription to The Cats' Pause!
From reading Bob Watkin's column, I can see that he is a very professional writer. He has a very nice and interesting style. It is the content of his column that often turns me off.
I have nothing personal against the University of Louisville, the basketball players or Denny Crum, the coach.
If I wanted to read about their basketball program in any manner, I would subscribe to the ScoreCard. The University of Louisville has a 50,000-watt clear channel radio station, ScoreCard and Jock Sutherland. I won't pay $25 a year for a magazine that gives them publicity.
I enjoy reading some items about other state schools and I have no objection to reading an occasional comment by Dean Smith, or any other coach, for that matter.
I cannot forget the University of Kentucky and the Joe B. Hall basking that went on under Denny Crum.
To me, U of L is just another sports program in the country. The UK-U of L basketball game is just another game to us. I feel worse when UK is beaten by Indiana than I do when UK is beaten by U of L.
I would prefer to receive a smaller magazine, covering UK only, and I would not mind paying the same $25 for the smaller magazine.
Thank you,
David and Ruby Hampton New Madison, Ohio
...And Again!
Dear Sir:
We have enjoyed our very first year of The Cats' Pause. I am enclosing a check for our renewal and I'm also sending a gift subscription for my brother and his family to start receiving you magazine. I know that they will enjoy it as much as we have.
My only suggestion' to you is that you somehow train Bob Watkins to write about another school besides the University of Louisville. Living in Louisville, we see and hear enought about the Cards. If we wanted more that that we'd subscribe to Louisville's magazine.
We're just diehard, hardcore, 'Cat fans that would rather spend our money reading about Kentucky and other great SEC schools.
Good Luck 'Cats!

Sticking Up For Dicky
Dear Sir:
While reading the Nov. 8, 1986 issue of The Cats' Pause, I was very disappointed to see a letter from Boss Clarke from Flatwoods printed in your fine publication.
While being aware that these type of people still exist, I don't need to read their racist remarks in my favorite paper.
"MASSER" C.W. Clarke's (from Flat-woods) remarks about the PUSH-EXCEL Classic, Rev. (Jesse) Jackson and especially Mr. Dicky Beal were racist cheap shots.
Please omit further redneck remarks from this great publication, you guys deserve better.
Sincerely,
L. Jordan Clemons Mt. Sterling. Kentucky
P.S. Maybe we should advertise as: Spotlighting UK and SEC and Sports of All Sorts.____________.-...,,,,
Black, White And Red?
Dear Sir:
I'm a transplanted UK alumnus trying to grow blue flowers in red soil. It was with great interest that I read your coverage of the Billy Reed-Courier-Journal controversy. Reed scored a three-pointer in saying, "I'm the only one down there who cares about UK." (Cats' Pause, Dec. 13, 1986, p. 22)
Reed was not allowed to cover the game for the Courier-Journal as they ran two lead articles on the cover of their sports page Sunday moring, Dec. 7. The introductory paragraph of the first, by Dave Koerner, praises the IU starting lineup and is quickly followed by five paragraphs of quotes by IU All-American Steve Alford. The other, by Rick Bozich, should be titled "Highlights from Hoosier heaven." It seems the "new" Courier-Journal is black and white and red all over. Looks like more Cats' Pause subscriptions in the Louisville area.
Sincerely,
Mark Johnson Louisville. Kentucky
Minor Sports Fan
Dear Sir:
I want to commend The Cats' Pause for using some of its outer columns on each page to cover, among other things, minor sports. I have written several times in the past requesting such coverage of minor sports. We distant subscribers to TCP get no such coverage of minor sports. We thank you very much.
I would like to tell you how well-written TCP is compared to similar sports papers. I also subscribe to the LSU Tiger Rag, and until it died, South Sports. They look like high school papers compared to The Cats' Pause.
Sincerely,
Murtel Meyer Chico, California
Blue In Orange Country
Dear Sir:
I'm amazed! Why have recent writers expressed surprise at some UK fans' behavior? I've known for years that many UK fens are spoiled babies. Keep in mind, I'm not anti-UK. I graduated from the university in May, and bleed Blue^win, lose or draw! However, as time has gone on, I have become increasingly frustrated by the attitudes of some "UK fans" that we would be better off without.
Example: Southern Miss was the first football game I was able to attend this year. UK was undefeated and blowing out a highly-regarded team. Instead of deafening crowd noise, we were confronted by constant fan gripes and complaints. As I now work in Knoxville, and had taken several Big Orange
