Abstract

The Hart family papers deal with Dr. R.S. Hart, who was a Woodford County physician, and the Wasan family. In addition to Hart's daybooks, correspondence, and account books, the collection contains a description of cattle and hog pedigrees.

Biography/History

Dr. R.S. Hart practiced medicine in the Pisgah community of Woodford and Fayette counties in Kentucky from the later nineteenth century through the first decades of the twentieth century.

Scope and Content

The Hart family papers deal with Dr. R.S. Hart, who was a Woodford County physician, and the Wasan family. In addition to Hart's daybooks, correspondence, and account books, this collection contains a description of cattle and hog pedigrees. The Wasan family material, dated 1835-1856, consists of medical case histories and directions for making simple medical remedies. Early surveys, land indentures, and other materials in the papers carry the names of John Fowler, George and Robert Moffet, and Moses McIlvain, all early settlers, and James Wilkinson, who figured in the Spanish Conspiracy of the early eighteenth century.
