The Council on Aging is a multiple disciplinary _· · _   -‘ w  
agency with representatives from° the colleges and de-    
  partments of the University. It also works with the   V, `   _  
Kentucky Commission on Aging, a division of state Q  =.»~ . T       S  
government, and the principal state, regional and   ‘   _1  
national associations in gerontology and adult education.     ° .   ~-‘»` L "  
The purposes of the council include: the develop- { ff   L » `  
ment of a high degree of sensitivity to the various     ‘ _ A  
aspects of aging among all members of the University     s  
. faculty and staff; the promotion of an interest in study .  M  V  
and research about aging, and the extension of this _ _'     _   _i,,_

1 The Herman L. Donovan Senior Citizens Fellowship

  The \Vriting \Vorkshop for People Over 57 is an   V ~  
l annual program of the council. Co-sponsored by the   ·  
ll departments of University Extension, English, Summer   ~    
1i Programs and the Lexington Herald-Leader. The Writ- _     ’.·’ .   V
  ing Workshop attracts famous writers who teach in lg »    
1 such genre as fiction, non-fiction, poetry, and special   .  
i, areas. The workshop produces an annual publication,   I ` V i''t‘r

i Y. Several special interest seminars are offered by the
j Council on Aging. All entering Donovan Fellows are
l l expected to enroll in the Vestibule Seminar which is
  1 an orientation to the scholarly life and the procedures
i ‘» of the University. Adults who are interested in travel-
· ing to other countries may elect the Study-Travel
1 Seminar. Of special interest to graduate students as
l 1 well as older adults is the seminar: The Sciences and
  Aging—this is one in a series entitled, "Creat Issues."
