Micah Taul came to Kentucky with his family in 1787 and settled in Fayette County. He served in the War of 1812 as a major and a colonel and later represented Kentucky in Congress from 1814 to 1816.The original typescript was destroyed. The memoirs have been published in the KENTUCKY STATE HISTORICAL SOCIETY REGISTER.This is a typescript of the memoirs of Micah Taul (January, 1848- March, 1850). One of the interesting accounts described in his memoirs concerns the time he spent as a soldier in the Kentucky Volunteers during the War of 1812. He gives a vivid and personal account of personalities of commanding officers, events, and daily existence as the Left Wing of the Northwest Army moved northward through Ohio during the war. Included in this account are descriptions of General James Winchester and General William Henry Harrison.Arranged chronologically.Taul, Micah, 1785-1850.Winchester, James, 1752-1826.Harrison, William Henry, 1773-1841.United States.--Army.--Kentucky Volunteers.River boats.River steamers.River life--Ohio River.River life--Tennessee River.Steamboats.Rivers--History.Ship captains.Kentucky--Genealogy.Ohio River.Tennessee River.United States--History--War of 1812--Personal narratives.United States--History--War of 1812--Regimental histories.Ohio--History.Fayette County (Ky.)--History.Directories.Genealogies.Lists.Notes.Diaries.MemoirsMemoirs of Micah Taul, 1848-1850
