Van Cliburn, the world renown pianist, was long awaited. Scheduled to play January 28 and rescheduled for February, a bout with the flu cancelled his performance until April 21.
The magnificent concert ended with four encores.
Cliburn, who has played in public since age four, was a student of Arthur Friedheim. At age 13 he won the National Music Festival, and went on to study music at Juilliard .
Season membership information could be
obtained from Mrs. Burton Milward, executive secretary, or Mrs. Harold Baker.
