Members, Board of Trustees:

GRANT OF EASEMENT TO NORTHEAST WOODFQRD WATER DISTRICT
                    FOR WOODFORD COUNTY FARM

Recommendation: that approval be given for the granting of a
water line easement to Northeast Woodford Water District across
the University's Woodford County Farm.

Background: The Northeast Woodford Water District is a special
district formed by the Woodford County Fiscal Court in 1960 to
provide the rural residents and farms of northeast Woodford
County with potable domestic water. The District is planning
to upgrade and improve its system with the addition of a new
water storage tank and larger distribution lines. The new
lines will be installed in several areas including Old
Frankfort Pike and Midway Road and will allow the District to
connect to an additional source of supply in the future.

The new 8"1 water line will be constructed inside the
University's farm-. fence along Midway Road. The District has
agreed to bore under the entrance to the farm, make every
effort to protect existing trees and to provide a vault and
meter for future water service for the farm. In addition, the
District's improvements to the system should provide the
University with an opportunity for excellent fire protection
for the main body of the farm. In consideration of these
benefits to the University, the easement will be provided at no
cost to the Northeast Woodford Water District.

The College of Agriculture has reviewed the District's plans
and recommends that the easement be granted.
