George Kinkead was the son of William Bury Kinkead, also a Lexington attorney. George graduated from Princeton University in 1870. After further study in his father's law office, Kinkead was admitted to the bar in 1872. He practiced law to the time of his death in 1940.The collection contains addresses and scrapbooks belonging to George Blackburn Kinkead, a Lexington, Kentucky attorney. The addresses concern politics (Kentucky politics and the tariff), religion (Reflections of an Agnostic) and genealogy. One scrapbook (1937-1939) is concerned with Kinkead's birthdays and the other contains information on Princeton class reunions, Democratic politics, Woodrow Wilson, Kinkead family members, and numerous obituaries of central Kentuckians. The clippings in the second scrapbook are pasted over an account book, except the last twenty-four pages of the book, which gives finances for 1910-1912. Some photographs of bridges around 1925 are also pasted in this scrapbook/account book.Organized: Papers, articles, and Speeches; Kinkead family Genealogy; Scrapbook 1915-1931; Scrapbook 1937-1939.
