Richard Calloway was born in Virginia in 1722 and died in 1780. The papers include two articles prepared for public presentation by Bate: one on Kentucky pioneer Richard Calloway and the other on the early history of the Louisville Society of Medicine. Bates paper on Calloway is primarily genealogical in nature providing details on Calloway, his ancestors and descendents, and on life in late 18th century Kentucky. His second paper, "Sesquicentennial of the Louisville Society of Medicine," is a brief sketch of the activities and personalities of the Louisville Society of Medicine during the late 19th and early 20th century. Sesquicentennial of the Louisville Society of Medicine (should be semi-centennial, 62M47); Colonel Richard Calloway (62M48). Leaves arranged numerically within each article.
