IV. Adjustment of Apartment Rates for Married Student Housing

Recommendation: That the monthly rental rate for efficiency apartments be
adjusted to $95.00, that the monthly rental rate for one-bedroom apartments
be adjusted to $110.00, and that the monthly rental rate for two-bedroom
apartments be adjusted to $120.00 effective the Fall Semester, 1973.

Background: The present rates ($85.00 per month for efficiency apartments,
$100.00 per month for one-bedroom apartments, and $110.00 per month for
two-bedroom apartments) were established in 1969, at which time there was
a $5.00 per month increase. Prior to 1969, the last increase had been in
1964. Higher labor costs, increases in utilities, increases in debt service,
and the normal increases in operating costs make a rate adjustment necessary.
The rental rates include basic furnishings and utilities.

V. Adjustment of Room Rates--Graduate Apartments

Recommendation: That the semester rate for graduate efficiency apartments
be adjusted to $292.00 per semester and that the graduate one-bedroom
apartments be adjusted to $337.00 per semester.

Background: The present rates are $285.00 for an efficiency apartment and
$330.00 for a one-bedroom apartment. The rate for graduate apartments is
the same annual amount charged for married apartments, with an adjustment
for custodial supplies and telephones which are provided in graduate students
apartments but not in married students apartments.
