Score one for TCP
I wanted you to know that I enjoy TCP. It was about the only communication I could get the last two football and the last basketball season. Scores are not in the newspapers usually.
I especially want to thank you for publishing the schedules for the UK football and basketball events. It seems the University athletics department is not sending out football or basketball schedules to season ticket holders that purchase football tickets. I often wonder if this is intentional or a yearly mistake. Alumni and loyal supporters do move out of state where information is not as readily available. I've had two season tickets for 22 years. I again thank you for your consideration of loyal out-of-staters with Kentucky roots.
Also, the surcharge of $10 per season football ticket is unfair to loyal supporters of university athletics. Non-season ticket holders and opposing fans do not pay the surcharge. I can't think of a better way to improve athletic department revenue than getting it from our opponents. Why not just incorporate the $10 in the face price of all tickets? Season ticket holders price would not increase nor would they be penalized and all others would pay an equivalent amount. Seems fair to me and as a bonus the football revenues would be increased $1.33 for every non-season ticket sold. I would guess $100,000 per season. I bet Bill Curry would like that.
Currently season ticket holders pay the most to attend games. In addition, any or all season ticket holders that could not attend certain games could be arrested for selling tickets for actual cost, because the price paid is greater than the face value. The athletic department sent out a letter regarding scalp-
ing to remind us of the law. As much as I would like, I can't make all the games and do have to sell some tickets to "can't wait te go" relatives or friends.
Thanks again.

Out to pasture?
Many times last year, I drove my four-wheel truck to the pasture. Why, you ask? So I could listen to Kentucky play basketball. The only radio station I could get was from Glasgow, Ky.
Remembering one night in particular, it was during a severe thunderstorm. The rain was coming down in sheets, the wind was rocking my truck, lightning struck a tree not too far from me. I knew things were bad when my faithful dogs did not follow me out to the pasture. When I got back to the house I found out there was a tornado watch out.
I thought my chances were over since WHAS started broadcasting Kentucky games again. This Thanksgiving I drove to Dallas, Texas, to visit my daughter. When it was time for Kentucky to play Pennsylvania, I turned on her stereo. I could not tune in WHAS very well. So I got into my car and drove to a lake near Rockwall, Texas. It worked, Cawood came in clear. While listening to the game someone pulled up behind me. He had his lights on bright and they blinded me when I looked in the rear view mirrow. I did not move, I was listening to (Jeff) Brassow make his second three-pointer. Then the blue lights came on, I stepped out of the car. The patrolman wanted to know what I was doing. I told him I was visiting my daughter and I was listening to Kentucky playing basketball.
I further explained that my daughter lived in an apartment complex and the reception on her radio was not good. So I drove to the lake so I could get better reception. The patrolman shook his head and laughed. He then drove off. When I got back to my daughter's place, I told everybody about the incident. They thought I was crazy. I know I am not crazy, it is my love for Kentucky basketball.

Like what I see
I just received my first-ever issue of The Cats' Pause. If all of the issues hereafter are like this one, I will truly be elated. This is just what I have been looking for to keep me informed and up to date on my beloved Big Blue.
I have been a UK basketball fen since I was seven years oldback in our third NCAA championship seasonand will be until the Lord takes me away.
Please keep up the good work and continue to keep me on your mailing list.
Yours Thankfully
Mickey R. Lovell Lockport, 111.
PS. I also root for all of UK's athletic programs, but Big Blue Roundball is No. 1.
EPS. They don't print anything about our teams up here in Yankeeland, so, thanks again.
Good company
In renewing our subscription of TCP, may I say how much company it is for my husband
Ray Polly. He is homebound and never misses a Kentucky basketball game. He stuck by (UK) through all the problems and looked forward to the next season. He tapes all games and watches them many times. Without Kentucky basketball he would spend many lonely days.
We are looking forward to an exciting new season.
His birthday is Dec. 18. I wish you would write a little "Happy Birthday" to him in a future TCP.
(Editor's note: ALL TOGETHER NOW: "Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday to Ray, Happy Birthday to you!")
Rough schedule ahead
This little bit of information for TCP readers who don't get to read The Sporting News. In its Nov. 19 issue'Rugged Schedules: A top-five ranking of the most difficult non-league schedules for teams that have reached the NCAA Tournament in recent years, 1) Loyola Marymount, 2) Marquette, 3) Kentucky, 4) UNLV, 5) Michigan State. Honorable mention goes to Alabama, Arizona, Louisville and North Carolina."
Very interesting.
