I AMERICAN LIBERTY LEAGUE

l
§ 1.
Q To preserve American institutions w·hich safe-
i guard, to citizens in all walks of life, the right to
liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Therefore to
i uphold American principles which oppose the
ig- tendency shown in many countries to restrict free-
} dom of speech, freedom of the press, religious
l liberty, the right to peaceable assembly and the
_; right to petition the government; and to combat
5 the growth of bureaucracy, the spread of monop-
l oly, the socialization of industry and the regi-
3 mentation of American life.
. 2.
To maintain the right of an equal opportunity
‘ for all to work, earn, save and acquire property
l in order that every man may enjoy the fruit of his
_§m i own ability and labor, and thus have, in his declin-
E ing years, the peace of mind that comes from a
_ sense of security for himself and for his wife and
1 children who may survive him.
5 3_ I
i To uphold the principle that the levying of
l taxes, the appropriation of public funds and the
l designation of the purposes for which they are
1 to be expended are exclusively the functions of
s the Congress and should not be exercised by
L administrative oflicials.
1 4.
g To advocate economy in government by abolish-
_ ing useless commissions and offices, consolidating
departments and bureaus and eliminating extrava-
gance; to advocate a sound iiscal policy and the
maintenance of a sound and stable currency to be
preserved at all hazards.
_ 5.
» _ To further the restoration of employment and
the rehabilitation of agi iculture, business and in-
` dustry, and to oppose all unnecessary interference
and competition by government with legitimate
industry.
