Dear Fred:
I don't know whether it is congratulations or cone
dolences that you are in line for, but anyway it is a big
honor which comes to few, and I certainly want to be one to
wish you well. The only thing is, for God's sake don't
take it too seriously and ruin your health as many have
done before. You know that damned job killed Starr
and Dean and some more of them.
I would have sent you a wire last week, but
I imagined you were up at Belmot to see the horse race.
I was certainly tickled for Mr. Wright's sake. As you
will remember, we saw him the time Ruth was with me,
and he was such a gentleman and his wife was so nice,that_
I certainly am happy for their sakes that they have one
of the "big time" horses.
