I . Dear Fred:
CONGRATULATIONS! I was away from home during the meeting of the
American Medical Association and could not attend. It was my
intention upon my return a few days ago to write you this word
of_congratulation, but have deferred it because I knew you would
be receiving a large quantity of fan mail, and thought perhaps
it would be better to scatter it over a period of days and weeks.
Such a great honor, as you have just received, comes to but few
men, but I am sure most of them work hard for it and deserve all _
they get; such is the case with you. Your untirin; efforts and
valuable contributions to medical science have gained for you the
place and the honor that has so recently come to you. I rejoice
with you. Use me for anything that may be helpful during your
administration.
with every good wish, I am
I Sincerel%;yours,
