Dear Fred:
» J I have only returned home today, having stayed over in Quebec
I for the Thoracic Surgeons' and then attending a meeting of the Uni-
versity Council in New Haven, all of which is given by way of explanation
_ in not writing you sooner to tell you how terribly pleased I wajh along
I with everyone else, with your election to the presidency of the American
4 Surgical Association. I don't believe that I have ever heard such
universal acclaim and approval.
I think you can set yourself at ease regarding the Derby which,
‘ if my calendar is correct, will be run the first Saturday in May, which
_ comes on the 7th, and I believe the meeting was set for St. Louis on y
A May 2nd, Srd and 4th. I maée,hastewevengingguebec to look into this
_ matter since I would not trust my own conscience concerning proper
i y loyalties.
"" — The meeting was a very good one although I understood very
little of what was going on. I will tell you about some of the details
I when I see you next. I am planning to be in Chicago for the American
Medical Association meeting, and the Executive Committee of the Surgical I
Division is waiting with intense interest your nomination for the
_ chairmanship.
A ` I expect to drop off in Kentucky on the way back, and also
I‘ spend sometime there during July. we have about finished up with the ‘
I house, and we will expect you and Edith to at least spend a night with
us and christen the guest room.
, With every good wish,
/‘ _ Sincerely yours,
D. C. Elkin, M. D.
