Biography/History

Educator. William Kinkead Shelby, a great grandson of Isaac Shelby, was the principal of the Johnson School in Lexington, Kentucky for a short period of time.

Scope and Content

The material is comprised of a memorandum book and correspondence concerning a land transaction. The memorandum book, kept as a daily journal of the events in the school, lists such things as enrollment numbers, visitors to the school, disciplinary actions, and daily happenings. The correspondence (1890-1894) concerns a land transaction in Big Stone Gap, Virginia.
